Pneumatic Lockout
Pneumatic lockout devices isolate compressed air and gas at the source: the fitting, the supply valve or the cylinder itself. This collection covers air fitting lockouts that plug a male quick-connect, an isolation box that encloses the connection, and gas cylinder lockouts that cap the valve. Most used: the Pneumatic Male Air Lockout for quick-connect couplings, the Pneumatic Air Isolation Box where the whole connection must be enclosed, and the Gas Cylinder Lockout for cylinder valves. Isolate at the supply, then block the connection so nobody can reconnect: the Pneumatic Male Air Lockout plugs into the male quick-coupling and takes a padlock, so the tool or machine cannot be fed again. Bleed the line before work starts; trapped pressure is the usual cause of injury. Where the isolation point is a valve, use a ball valve lockout instead.
For lines that cannot be unplugged. The Pneumatic Air Isolation Box closes around the fitting or the shut-off valve and locks with several padlocks, so a group can isolate one air supply together and each person keeps their own key. It suits filter-regulator units, manifolds and machine inlets that stay connected during maintenance.
Close the cylinder valve and cover it: the Gas Cylinder Lockout, large fits over the valve and handwheel of standard industrial cylinders, and the Gas Cylinder Lockout, small suits smaller bottles. The cover locks with one padlock and stops the valve being opened while a line is open or a regulator is changed. It also makes an empty or off-limits cylinder obvious in the store.
